About Kristina Cardoza

KRISTINA CARDOZA is a 10-year-old children’s book author/illustrator. She is currently in the 5th grade but taking all her courses in middle school at Ohio Virtual Academy (OHVA). In addition to being a children’s book author, she’s a junior Girl Scout, a soccer player, and a brown belt in mixed martial arts at Meng’sMartial Arts & Mile High Karate of Centerville. Kristina began reading simple children’s books when she was 18 months old and she wrote her first story at
the age of five – it’s called Pinky Bunny’s First Day of Kindergarten!

The Making of Pinky Bunny’s First Day of Kindergarten:
In 2006, the military moved her family to a different state and Kristina was not looking forward to starting over or kindergarten. She was shy, she didn’t know anyone, and she missed her friends from preschool and from her old neighborhood. She expressed her feelings to her parents, so her mother encouraged her to go to the computer and write a story about how she felt about kindergarten. Finding inspiration from Pinky, a pink stuffed Easter bunny that her grandmother, Grandy, had given her, Kristina began writing her first story! Everyone in her kindergarten class loved her story and so did Grandy! Grandy passed away a week after Kristina’s 6th birthday and the story was put aside for years only to be read by family and friends. Although Kristina wrote numerous stories after her first book, Pinky Bunny’s First Day of Kindergarten was still close to her heart. On September 23, 2011, Pinky Bunny’s First Day of Kindergarten was published!

Pinky Bunny’s First Day of Kindergarten:
Pinky Bunny’s First Day of Kindergarten is about a pink bunny named Pinky who is nervous to start kindergarten. When Pinky gets to kindergarten, she finds the experience to be a little scary, but after a while, she feels good about kindergarten because she meets a new friend and has fun playing with him. Later, she meets Hops, the class bully, and he’s bullying Pinky and her new friend! What will she do now? Follow Pinky on her adventure to see what happens while having fun learning colors!
